On this page
As previously mentioned, we’ve been working on a new space to replace our old blog and make our updates and resources feel more connected to the main Filen website. That space is now live: the Filen Hub.
The goal was to create a central place that brings together blog content, product updates, help resources, the new newsletter and navigation tools. The Hub is designed to be more than just a blog. It’s meant to be a useful part of the overall site experience at filen.io. Unlike the old blog, which lived on a separate subdomain, the new Hub is integrated directly into our website. This improves usability, keeps everything in one place, and has technical benefits like better SEO.
From Preview to Public Launch
A few days ago, we released an early version of the Hub and asked for your feedback through a short survey. Thank you to everyone who participated. Your responses helped shape the version that is now live.
Here’s what you told us mattered most:
- A cleaner and more modern design.
- Support for both dark and light mode
- A simple and embedded way to subscribe to the newsletter
- Easier navigation across topics and updates
We’ve made updates in all of these areas and tried to incorporate as much feedback as possible.
What’s New in the Hub
Integrated design
The Hub is now part of the main Filen site at filen.io/hub. Visually and technically. This makes navigation more consistent and aligns the content more closely with the overall user experience.
Dark and light mode support
You can now choose between a dark or light theme, depending on your preference.
Newsletter signup
We’ve never had a proper newsletter before. That’s now changed. The newsletter is fully integrated with the Hub and you can subscribe directly from any page without being redirected elsewhere.
New navigation centre
We’ve restructured and redesigned the navigation area to make it easier to browse between updates, tutorials, and other content types. Just as important as usability was the visual side of things. We introduced more layout variety, added icons and pictograms, and made better use of images throughout the Hub to improve scannability and overall presentation.
To support this, each content category now follows a dedicated color scheme aligned with our brand colors. This helps distinguish different sections at a glance and makes the Hub feel more consistent and recognizable.
Resources section
We’ve introduced a new area for official resources. This currently includes our whitepaper, general info materials, and our press kit. A revised whitepaper is already in development and will be published soon.
Comments are enabled
You can now comment directly under each post. Whether it's a quick thought, question, or suggestion, you're welcome to contribute and join the conversation. (You need a member account to comment ,which is not linked to your Filen account)
What’s Next
We will continue improving the Hub based on your feedback. Some of the next steps include:
- Publishing the new version of the Filen whitepaper
- Adding more technical and developer-focused resources
- We want to further integrate the Hub, with a focus on navigation, resources and the newsletter, into the main Filen homepage / front page.
- We see the Hub as a starting point for offering more communication beyond the monthly status updates. This will include things like feature spotlights that explain individual new features in more detail, with a focus on making them accessible to non-developers. There will also be patch notes for larger updates.
Share Your Thoughts
The survey is open again for anyone who wants to directly share thoughts about the current version of the Filen Hub. Whether you have just a quick comment or feel like answering a few short questions, we appreciate any kind of input.
You can find the feedback form here:
Thanks again to everyone who helped shape this update. We hope the new Hub makes it easier to stay informed and find what you need. Take a look around, subscribe to the newsletter, and let us know what you think.
